Details	εἰ δέ τις [τολμήσει παραβῆναι ταῦτα, θεσπίζομεν αὐτὸν (?)] στρατίας ἐκπίπτιν ἣ[ν ἔλαχεν καὶ τῇ νομίμῃ ποινῇ ὑπο]- βάλλεσθαι, τὸν δὲ τὴν ἀρχὴν ἔχοντα τῶν σ[τενῶν ποινὴν] πεντήκοντα χρυσοῦ κατατιθέναι λίτρας, εἴ τε^note[Or: εἴγε.] οἱῳ- δήποτε τρόπῳ παραβαλῶσιν οἱ τύποι τῆς ἡμετέ- ρας εὐσεβίας· ἀγρυπνῖν γὰρ αὐτὸν καὶ πολυπραγμονῖν ἕκαστα βουλόμεθα ὥστε μηδένα κακουργοῦντα λανθάνειν· ταῦτα δὲ καὶ ἐν αὐτοῖς προτεθῆναι τοῖς τό- ποις ἐθεσπίσαμεν, καὶ στήλαις ἐνχαράττεσθαι λιθίναις ἐνπηγνυμέναις ἐκεῖ πρὸς τῇ θαλάττῃ ὥστε καὶ τοὺς ἀπαιτοῦντας καὶ τοὺς ἀπαιτουμένους ἀναγινώσκιν τὸν νόμον καὶ τοὺς μὲν δεδιότας ἀπέχεσθαι τῆς ἀπλησ- τίας, τοὺς δὲ θαρροῦντας μὴ ἀνέχεσθαι βλάβης καὶ τὸν περίβλεπτον κόμητα τῶν στενῶν ἀεὶ τὴν ἀπιλὴν ἐν τοῖς πράγμασιν^note[Or: γράμμασιν.] ὁρῶντα τὴν ἐν τοῖς ἔργοις πῖραν, εἰ ῥα- θυμήσῃ, προσδέχεσθαι· ☩ ☩ γνῶσις συνηθειῶν ἃς παρῖχον πρὸ ἐτῶν εἴκοσει καὶ εἴκοσει δύο τῶν στενῶν οἱ ναύκληροι, ὡς πολυπραγμο- νήσας ὁ ἐνδοξώτατος ἔπαρχος τῆς πόλεως ἀνήγαγεν τῇ ἡμετέρᾳ εὐσεβίᾳ, ἅστινας καὶ ἐπὶ τοῦ παρόντος καὶ με- τὰ ταῦτα προσήκει μόνας διδόναι οὕτως· (…) οἱ οἰνηγοὶ πάντες οἱ τὸν οἶνον κομίζοντες εἰς τὴν βασι- λίδ[α τα]ύτην πόλειν, πλὴν μόνον τῶν Κιλίκων, (…) κλασσικοῖς τῶν στενῶν φόλλις ἓξ καὶ ξέστας δύο, οἱ ἐληγοὶ καὶ ὀσπριγοὶ καὶ λαρδηγοὶ κλασσικοῖς τῶν στενῶν φόλλις ἕξ, οἱ Κίλικες ναύκληροι κλασσικοῖς τῶν στενῶν φόλλις τρῖς· καὶ ὑπὲρ πρόβας κεράτιν ἓν καὶ ἐν τῷ ἐκ- πορίζιν κεράτια δύο· οἱ σιτηγοὶ κλασσικοῖς τῶν στε- νῶν φόλλις τρῖς καὶ λόγῳ πρόβας σίτου μόδιος εἷς· καὶ ἐν τῷ ἐκπορίζιν ἐντεῦθεν ἑτέρους φόλλις τρῖς. If anyone dares to break the following ordinances, we order him to leave the army and face his just punishment. The supervisor in charge of the strait must impose a fine of 50 pounds of gold on him if he has broken any of the regulations established by our Piety. Because we want him to keep a constant watch over all parts [of the Hellespont] so that no criminal escapes. We recommend that these regulations be published on the spot and engraved on stone columns, erected on the shore, so that tax collectors and taxpayers can read this law and the former will refrain from avariciousness and the latter will be confident that they will not be wronged, while the venerable supervisor in charge of the strait, when he constantly faces these letters as a threat can expect the reality of a punishment when he has slackened.☩ ☩ The usual taxes that the captains have paid over the past 20 or 22 years, as the venerable regulator of the city has determined after investigation for the benefit of our Piety – theese and only these duties will continue to be paid from today on, namely: All ships that transport wine to the capital, except those of the Cilicians, will pay to the port authorities 6 solidi, as well as 2 sextarii of wine. Vessels with oil, legumes, and pork pay 6 solidi to the port authorities; Cilician captains pay 3 solidi to the port authorities, 2 carat for inspection and 2 carat for customs clearance. Grain vessels pay 3 solidi to the port authorities, and 1 modius for the inspection as well as 2 modii for customs clearance.
