Narbonne - basilica

In the course of the third century, many houses in Narbo Martius (Narbonne) were abandoned, and in the fourth century, a church was built on top of them. The basilica covered part of the House of the Genius; several old walls were reused. Underneath the crypt, traces of a baptistery have been found, together with several sarcophagi and an amphora that was the final resting place of a young child.

After the fifth century, the religious building was abandoned and the area went into decline.
